Sugar is a general term for many sweet tasting molecules made from carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Some types of sugar include:
- Sucrose - Also called table sugar. A white powdery crystal used in cooking. Primarily extracted from sugar beets or sugar cane.
- Fructose - A type of sugar found in many fruits and vegetables as well as in honey.
- Glucose - Also called dextrose. A sugar made primarily by plants during photosynthesis.
