Propagation: Seed - sow spring in situ.
Cultivation: We have very little information on this species and do not know if it will be hardy in Britain, though judging by its native range it should succeed outdoors in many parts of this country.

Range: N. America - Florida to Texas and north to south Maine.
Habitat: Sandy coasts[1].
Edibility: Leaf tips - cooked and also used as a flavouring[2]. A salty flavour.
Seed - raw or cooked. They are ground into a meal and used as a mush or added to cereals and used in making bread[2].

Soil: Can grow in light, medium, and heavy soils.
Wind: Tolerates maritime wind exposure
