Range: E. Asia - Himalayas.
Habitat: Open forested areas at elevations of 1200 - 2100 metres in the Himalayas[1][2].
Edibility: Fruit - raw or cooked[2]. An aromatic flavour, somewhat like a guava (Psidium spp.)[3][4][1].
The sap can be used as a rennet to curdle plant milks when making cheese[1].
Usage: The wood can be used for making kitchen implements[1].
Soil: Can grow in light, medium, and heavy soils.
Flower Type: Hermaphrodite
