Hypochoeris incana
Propagation: Seed - sow spring in a cold frame and only just cover the seed. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer.
Cultivation: We have almost no information on this species and do not know if it will be hardy in Britain, though it is likely to succeed outdoors at least in the milder areas of the country. It is likely to require a light free-draining soil and a sunny position. It should also be tolerant of maritime exposure.
Range: Southern S. America - Argentina to Chile.
Habitat: Coastal sands and gravels, open scrub, dry grassland and Empetrum heath to 150 metres and occasionally found to 650 metres from Tierra Del Fuego north to latitude 41°s in Argentina[1].
Edibility: Root - roasted[1].
Pollinators: Bees, flies
Soil: Can grow in light, medium, and heavy soils.
Drainage: Prefers well drained soil.
Wind: Tolerates maritime wind exposure
Flower Type: Hermaphrodite
