Range: S. Africa. Introduced and naturalized in all mainland states of Australia.
Habitat: Found in many habitats, especially grass plains[1]. A weed of waste ground and pastures[2].
Edibility: Young leaves cooked[3][4]. The leaves contain oxalates and are laxative in large quantities[3][4].
Medicinal: When eaten in quantity, the leaves have a laxative effect upon the body[3][4].
Soil: Can grow in light, medium, and heavy soils.
