Emergent property

An emergent property is a characteristic, quality, or behavior that emerges from interactions between elements, such that the property can be said to belong only to the interacting elements as a whole system and not to the elements themselves. Emergent properties help living organisms better adapt to their environments and increase their chances of survival.
