Cultivation: This species is cultivated as a medicinal plant in China[1].
A very ornamental plant[2].
The dried plant can come back into growth[1].
Range: E. Asia - China to the Himalayas.
Habitat: Tree trunks in mountain forests, also on rocks in mountain valleys at elevations of 500 - 1700 metres[3].
Medicinal: Antiphlogistic, pectoral, sialogogue, stomachic and tonic[4][1].
Soil: Can grow in light, medium, and heavy soils.
