Range: E. Asia - China, Japan and Korea.

Habitat: Woods in low mountains of central and southern Japan[2]. Grows on the floor of dense forests[3].

Medicinal: Antiphlogistic[4]. It is used in the treatment of mastitis and other kinds of ulcers[4].

Soil: Can grow in light, medium, and heavy soils.
