Scorzonera parviflora

Propagation: Seed - sow spring or late summer in situ. If the weather is dry then it will be worthwhile watering the seed in, otherwise germination might be delayed.

Cultivation: We have very little information on this species and do not know if it will be hardy in Britain, though judging by its native range it should succeed outdoors in many parts of the country. The following notes are based on the general needs of the genus.

Succeeds in any soil in sun or light shade[1].

Range: Europe - N.W. Czechoslovakia to Spain.

Habitat: Saline soils[2].

Edibility: Leaves - cooked[3][4]. Used as a spinach[5].

Pollinators: Insects

Soil: Can grow in light, medium, and heavy soils.

Drainage: Prefers well drained soil.

Flower Type: Hermaphrodite
