This species is hardy to about -7°c in Australian gardens[1], though this cannot be transferred direct to British gardens due to our cooler summers that often fail to fully ripen the wood, plus our longer, wetter, colder winters[K]. Plants require cool greenhouse treatment in Britain[2]. They succeed outdoors on the Isles of Scilly.
Range: Australia - South Australia and Victoria.
Habitat: Dry sandy desert areas and also by the coast[3].
Edibility: Fruit[4]. Used in preserves[5].
Soil: Can grow in light, medium, and heavy soils.
Flower Type: Hermaphrodite
