Kunzea muelleri

Propagation: Seed

Cultivation: Requires a sunny, well-drained position[1].

200

This species is hardy to about -7°c in Australian gardens[1], though this cannot be transferred direct to British gardens due to our cooler summers that often fail to fully ripen the wood, plus our longer, wetter, colder winters[K]. Plants require cool greenhouse treatment in Britain[2]. They succeed outdoors on the Isles of Scilly.

Range: Australia - New South Wales and Victoria.

Habitat: Heaths, especially in wet areas near bogs, at elevations up to the alpine zone.

Edibility: A tea substitute[3].

Medicinal: Tonic[3].

Soil: Can grow in light, medium, and heavy soils.

Flower Type: Hermaphrodite
