Caffeine is an allelochemical compound made by some plants such as coffee and tea that is toxic or growth-stunting to many types of nearby plants.[1] In humans and other animals, it is a stimulant that increases heart rate, blood pressure, and metabolism. It can make a person more awake and alert but can be harmful and even fatal if consumed in large amounts.
A serving of coffee has approximately 95mg of caffeine, whereas a serving of green tea has approximately 35mg.
